రంతిదేవుడు

రంతిదేవుడు అనే మహారాజు మహా దాతలలో ఒకరిగా కీర్తి పొందాడు. ఈయన విష్ణు భక్తుడు అడిగిన వారికి లేదనకుండా దాన ధర్మాలు చేసేవాడు. ఇలా ఉండగా రాజ్యంలో దారుణమైన కరువు తాండవించింది. రంతిదేవుడు తన సమస్త సంపదలను దాన ధర్మాలలో పోగొట్టుకున్నాడు. సంపదలన్నీ హరించిపోయాయి. అయిన అతడు తన దానక్రతువును ఏమాత్రం విడచిపెట్టలేదు. అయన తన భార్యబిడ్డలతో అడవుల పాలయ్యాడు. అడవులలో నివసిస్తున్న రంతిదేవుడు, అతని కుటుంబ సభ్యులు ఒకసారి గొప్ప ఆపదలో పడ్డారు. నలభైఎనిమిది రోజులపాటు తిండితిప్పలు దొరకక ఆకలితో అలమటించారు. అన్ని రోజుల పస్తులున్న తర్వాత రంతిదేవుడుకి ఆహారం,మంచినీరు లభించాయి. కుటుంబ సభ్యులతో కలిసి తినడానికి ఉపక్రమిస్తుండగా సరిగ్గా అదే సమయానికి ఒక పేద బ్రాహ్మణుడు అక్కడకు వచ్చాడు. బ్రాహ్మణుడు తనతో పాటు బక్కచిక్కిన తన పెంపుడు కుక్కను కూడా తీసుకువచ్చాడు. ఆ బ్రాహ్మణుడు రంతిదేవుడితో "రోజుల తరబడి తిండి లేక నేను నాకుక్క ఆకలితో అలమటిస్తున్నాము. తినడానికి ఏమైనా ఉంటె ఇప్పించండి" అని దీనంగా కోరాడు. రంతిదేవుడు, కాదనకుండా తన వద్ద ఉన్న ఆహారంలో కొంత ఆ బ్రాహ్మణుడికి, కుక్కకు పెట్టాడు. బ్రాహ్మణుడు భో౦చేసి వెళ్ళాక తన భార్యబిడ్డలతో భోజనానికి కూర్చున్నారు. వారు తినబోతుండగా ఒక శూద్రుడు వచ్చి రంతిదేవునితో "ఆకలితో ఉన్నాను నాకేదైన ఆహారం ఇవ్వండి అని అడిగాడు. రంతిదేవుడు తాము తినబోతున్న ఆహారాన్ని ఇచ్చేశాడు. ఇక రంతిదేవుని కుటుంబానికి తాగడానికి మంచి నీళ్ళు మాత్రమే మిగిలాయి. కనీసం మంచి నీళ్ళయిన తాగి కడుపు నింపుకుందామని అనుకునేలోగానే ఒక దళితుడు వచ్చి రంతిదేవుడితో "దప్పికతో గొంతు ఎండిపోతుంది నా దాహం తీర్చండి" అని అడిగాడు. రంతిదేవుడు కాదనుకుండా తమ దగ్గర మిగిలి ఉన్న ఆ మంచినీటిని కూడా అతడికి ఇచ్చేశాడు. రంతిదేవుడి త్యాగనిరతికి త్రిమూర్తులు ఎంతో సంతోషించి రంతిదేవుడి ఎదుట ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యారు. " రంతిదేవా ఇప్పటివరకు,బ్రాహ్మణ,శూద్ర, దళిత రూపాలలో వచ్చినది మేమే, నీ దాన గుణాన్ని పరీక్షించడానికి అలా వచ్చాము. ఇంత విపత్కర పరిస్థితులలో కూడా నీ దాన గుణాన్ని వదలలేదు. మా పరీక్షలో నీవు విజయం సాధి౦చావు. ఇక నుండి నీ రాజ్యంలో కరవు తొలిగిపోతుంది. నీ ప్రజలంతా సకల శాంతి సౌభాగ్యాలతో వర్ధిల్లుతారు. నీకీర్తి దాననిరతి కలకాలం ముందు తరాలకు ఆదర్శప్రాయం అవుతుంది" అని త్రిమూర్తులు రంతిదేవునికి అనేక వరాలు ప్రాసాదించి అదృశ్యమయ్యారు.

At least as a good dinner comes to me, a dalit comes and asks Rati Devi, "Thirsty throat is drying my thirst." He also gave him the water that was left without them. Trimurunnu enjoyed the blessings of Ranthi Devi and appeared before Radeetha."Ranteva has come to the fore in Brahmin, Shudra and Dalit form, so we have come to examine your dignity and you have not lost your disadvantage in these disastrous circumstances.
